‘The Friends of Yuen Lui is pleased to announce our 2nd Annual Photo Competition & Exhibition. This year’s competition is open to all Seattle-area high school photographers in grades 9-12. The subject matter is open to anything, so please feel free to enter up to 4 images of your favorite work in black and white or color. Selected entries will be printed, framed and exhibited at Vermillion Gallery on Sunday, November 6, 2011. The entry fee is $25. Photography sales from the exhibition will be donated to Seattle Children’s Hospital.’

I wanted to share a bit more information about the upcoming event in Seattle. We’d love to have you get involved. We’d also welcome you as a guest and would be thrilled if you were able to pass it on to others that you think might be interested! Almost 10 years after launching Slideluck Potshow in Seattle, we are launching Slideluck – which is a slidehow, but rather than a potluck, we will team up with chefs, restaurants, farms, supper clubs, etc, to provide the food, and in this case, we are working with One Pot. It’s also a fundraiser – our first – and it would be great if to have your support. It’s going to be an amazing evening of food, art, music, and entertainment. It would be great to have you there. Seven Days, Seven Portraits

Explore self portraiture as a form of artistic expression through a week-long series of projects and exercises. Kicking off the week, students will look at their own motivations and inspirations for creating self-portraits and discover the work of other photographers working in this field. During the week, students will embark on a photographic journey in self-portraiture, meeting again with the group to discuss their own process and approach, as well as possibilities for extended projects in photography.
